Integrate Apple Pay within Apple Business Chat

How to Integrate Apple Pay with Apple Business Chat, and Why? | Conversational Commerce Solutions

I. What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is an iOS/Apple-native mobile payment service and digital wallet app. Apple Pay provides easy, secure, and convenient contactless solution for customers to make payments, whether transactions are made in-store, online, or directly through an iOS app.

Apple Pay is accessible to use through any iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac devices.

Essentially, Apple Pay digitizes the payment process and serves as an alternative "contactless" method to swiping or inserting your physical credit card (with or without a chip) or debit card, and then entering your PIN number.

With Apple Pay, payments are accepted through any contactless-enabled point of sale terminal (also referred to as card readers, credit card payment processors, etc.).

II. How Does Apple Business Chat Work with Apple Pay?

By combining Apple Business Chat with Apple Pay, businesses are able to turn customer conversations directly into a sale, without leaving their messaging channel. When you integrate Apple Pay with Apple Business Chat, your business harnesses the power of "Conversational Commerce," the most modern marketing and sales experience.

With both tools, you're able to consolidate the entire customer journey in one messaging channel. Businesses are able to shape their conversations from inbound customer support inquiries, to marketing communications messaging, and/or making a sale all through the same iMessaging chat thread.

III. How Do Businesses Get Value?

In addition to Apple Business Chat being one of the fastest and most preferred channel for iOS/Apple Device users to communicate with brands, Apple Pay simply makes the sales and payment process even more appealing to customers. The two tools help brands create and deliver the most seamless and modern customer communications to sales experience, today.

When businesses use Apple Business Chat and integrate it with Apple Pay, they change the entire shopping and retail experience for their customers, entirely. With Apple Pay integrated into Apple Business Chat, customers are able to use their smartphone or Apple device that they carry with them throughout the day and make purchases on the fly with ease.

With the number of iOS users growing each and every day, and with the evolution of how, where, why, what, and when consumers decide to purchase goods and services, it's important that brands always stay ahead of their customers' expectations.

IV. The Benefits

With Apple Pay, making a purchase and any payment is as easy as sending a message. It's one channel of the customers' preference, one messaging channel, app, and a simple clicks.

Both tools also don't require any downloads, all customers need to do is confirm their payment directly in-message with the payment method that they've already added to their Wallet (e.g. type of credit card, debit card, gift card, etc.).

Because CM.com is uniquely a Certified Provider for both Apple Business Chat and Apple Pay, businesses are even able to enable payments within any type of mobile conversation. Consumers can use Apple Pay to pay right within iMessages, or by asking Siri. Every chat interaction can now easily lead to new sales and/or desired conversion(s).

V. How Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix Used Apple Business Chat & Apple Pay

CM.com customer, Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix demonstrated just how easy using Apple Business Chat and Apple Pay really was...

In the Formula 1 race sponsored by Heineken Dutch Grand Prix, their custom event ticketing flow was exclusively created and launched by CM.com.

When F1 race-enthusiasts wanted to purchase exclusive tickets for the Dutch Grand Prix race, all they had to do was send a message to the F1 Dutch Grand Prix number (messages were sent directly to the dedicated number or a message conversation box was prompted via QR code).

To send a message and secure tickets to the Dutch Grand Prix, customers had to initiate conversations by simply sending the word ‘tickets’ to the official account. Within Apple Business Chat, the consumer could then speak to a bot, which would ask the customer what type of tickets the consumer would like to request.

The biggest benefit of using Apple Business Chat, was the ability to offer Apple Pay as a payment method directly within the initial ticket request conversation channel.

In the case of the Dutch Grand Prix, a small registration fee of $1 was applied and charged via Apple Pay.

Payments made with Apple Pay made the process of getting a ticket as easy as it can be, with the possibility to enable payments through Face ID or Touch ID. Safe, secure, and fast. As soon as the payment was processed and accepted, the ticket order was placed. All the consumer had to do after, was wait to find out whether they were able to successfully win the drawing and secure their tickets to attend the Dutch Grand Prix.

VI. Secure and Effortless: Cashless Payments with Apple Pay

Apple Pay uses a device-specific number and unique transaction code. So, card numbers are never stored on Apple servers, and are never shared by Apple with merchants. Every transaction on your customer’s iPhone, iPad or Mac requires Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. And each time your customer takes their Apple Watch off their wrist, the passcode must be entered to access it.

In addition, you don't receive your customer’s actual credit or debit card numbers, so you aren't handling actual credit or debit card numbers in your systems when customers pay with Apple Pay. Moreover, Apple Pay is easy to set up and gives your customers a simple and secure way to pay and donate with the devices they use every day.

VII. How Can Your Business Use Apple Pay?

With Apple Business Chat, your customers initiate the conversation whenever it's convenient for them. For example when consumers have questions about your products or services. But also during the purchase process, initiated from one of your marketing campaigns. It can be used for after-sales support to help customers get the most value out of their purchase, improving brand loyalty and repeated sales.

Within Apple Business Chat, you can offer Apple Pay for easy and secure payments for your products and services, without leaving the conversation. A payment request looks like a normal chat bubble, but displays the familiar Apple Pay payment sheet. After the customer authorizes the payment, the payment request updates to reflect that payment is complete.
