Le Guess Who? is a leading international festival, celebrated for presenting groundbreaking music in inspiring ways. Artists from all over the world offer new perspectives on what is possible in music and, collectively, provide insight into the awe-inspiring diversity of human creativity. From 5-8 November 2026, Le Guess Who? celebrates its 20th Anniversary Edition in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
One of several special programs being presented as part of this landmark edition is 24 HOUR DUB: a 24-hour session of continuous dub sounds from 4PM on Saturday 7, November, through 4PM on Sunday 8, November, at Utrecht's KABUL à GoGo. The program brings together pioneers, poets, engineers, sound system architects, and a new generation of bass explorers. 24 HOUR DUB presents a global overview of dub music: traversing dub’s evolution across continents and scenes, and tracing its history while opening space for its future.
24 HOUR DUB
More than just a music genre, dub is a methodology, a philosophy and a way of listening. Dub emerged in the 1970s in the studios and dance halls of Kingston, Jamaica, transforming reggae into an experimental art form in which bass, echo, and space became instruments in their own right.
The extensive lineup of special performances includes a.o. Scientist, a visionary who bridges the analog roots of dub with the evolving world of digital sound, performing his 1981 album Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of The Vampires; dub legend Mad Professor, who will live mix trance-inducing polyrhythms from Nakibembe Embaire Group, and will also perform together with the First Lady of Dub, Sista Aisha; and neo-soul adventurer Greentea Peng who, under the name of Greentea Selecta, curates hypnotic sound journeys, weaving soul, dub, reggae, psychedelic grooves and left-field rhythms.
Also performing is dub poet, musician, radio host and cultural activist Mutabaruka, who is celebrated for using poetry and music to address social justice, Black identity, and political consciousness; The Bug vs Ghost Dubs: soundlab explorer Kevin Martin and musician/producer Michael Fiedler, who jointly aim to create a new form of spectral dub; DJ, collector, and long-standing NTS Radio resident Tash LC, blending traditional Afro-diasporic sounds such as Soukous and Merengue with Kuduro, Soca, and cutting-edge percussive club rhythms from across the Caribbean, Africa and Latin America; Utrecht's household name CARISTA, presenting a special dub-focused set that moves through low end frequencies, space and rhythm, connecting sound system culture and its ongoing influence on contemporary electronic music; and DJ and producer Introspekt, whose approach to composition and DJ sets re-imagines the past and also creating a different trajectories of futurity.
24 HOUR DUB is presented in collaboration with PRESSURE by The Bug and London-based musical movement Touching Bass, who co-curate the program together with Le Guess Who?, Krackfree Soundsystem, who will bring their custom, hand-built sound system to Utrecht for the occasion, and Royal Roots Corner, serving vegan soul food and snacks.
