How to Set Up and Test With the WhatsApp Sandbox

S​etup a WhatsApp sandbox environment in Channels to start testing with WhatsApp

Steps

In this video, we'll show you how to set up a WhatsApp sandbox profile and how to link it to the Customer Contact app as well as to a Webhook and our Business Messaging API.

Follow the steps below and you'll be ready to test with our WhatsApp sandbox.Login to the CM.com platform:

  1. Check that you have credit on your account, if not, top up.

  2. Go to Channels

  3. Click on WhatsApp

    1. if you do not have a WhatsApp nor made a request for one yet then a pop-up will appear click on “Test WhatsApp”.

    2. if you already have a WhatsApp Business account then click on the top right to switch to the Sandbox environment.

  4. Follow the instructions to set the sandbox up:

  5. Click on “Add a phone number”

  6. Enter the phone number

  7. Wait for the approval of CM.com

  8. Your phone number is now connected to our Sandbox environment

  9. Set up the inbound setting by adding a destination:

    1. Customer Contact (link to Customer Contact). Please note that this is only usable when a Order is created and signed.

    2. Webhook

    3. Emails

  10. Check the traffic via the Messaging Log

  11. Set up outgoing messages with personal API key via our Messaging Gateway configuration app (if you are not using our Customer Contact app).

  12. Enjoy and start testing!

Note that WhatsApp templates cannot be tested in the sandbox environment and will require you to get your WhatsApp Business Account up and running.
