In 2024 after attending an underwhelming business conference, the CM.com Africa team discussed what was lacking in the business events space - specifically in the tech industry and more importantly, around artificial intelligence. What we found:

  • A fear around AI adoption in businesses

  • A lack of understanding of how AI can benefit businesses of every size

  • A need for inspirational AI content

  • A space for like-minded business people to connect

Through this conversation, the goal for these events was clear; to connect like-minded individuals and businesses, educate them on AI and CM.com’s innovative solutions, and inspire a forward-thinking mindset, sparking curiosity and driving the integration of AI to help businesses thrive into the future.

Share

Invites shared via email, with event details such as agenda and ticket links. This is how we first introduced our events to our invitees.

Inform

Invitees informed via WhatsApp with event updates, details and reminders. This included location links, dress code and reminders of the little details.

Excite

Build excitement through regular personalised communication and get feedback after the event. Building excitement before, during and after the event.

From the beginning of the event - invites and tickets - to pre-event comms via WhatsApp, and then post event feedback using our Pages product; we made use of almost all we have to offer.

We’ve hosted four events throughout 2024 and the beginning of 2025. All have differed dramatically in location and style, but the objective and overhanging topic has remained the same; bringing like-minded people together to overcome the fear of Artificial Intelligence.
