The ISO 42001 standard helps organizations use AI in a safe, transparent, and ethical way. Jeroen van Glabbeek, CEO of CM.com, explains why the certification is so important:
“Our customers must always be able to trust that the technology they use is controllable, explainable, and compliant with European legislation, such as the upcoming EU AI Act. Achieving ISO 42001 certification reflects our commitment to developing AI that is not only innovative, but that governments and enterprises can deploy according to the highest standards of reliability and responsibility.”
The certification follows a six month program in which CM.com implemented a complete AI management system, based on five principles of responsible AI: transparency, controllability, privacy, security, and accessibility. As part of this process, an AI Artifact Resource Registry was established, in which all 33 AI models used by the company are documented and managed.

Certified, responsible AI solutions
Rutger de Ruiter, Head of Product Engage and member of CM.com’s AI Governance Board, says:
“As a European technology company, we adhere to the highest standards when it comes to transparency, privacy, and responsibility. These values are crucial for risk aware organizations. While many US based players are still developing their governance frameworks and talking about ‘trusted AI’, we already provide certified, responsible AI solutions on our platforms today.”
The audit was conducted by BSI (The British Standards Institution), a globally recognized certification body known for its rigorous requirements for quality and reliability. Matt Page, Senior Vice President EMEA Assurance at BSI, comments:
“AI has the potential to make a huge positive impact on society, but only when it is used safely and ethically. It is great to see how CM.com has translated its work on safe and responsible AI into concrete results, becoming one of the first organizations in the Netherlands to achieve BSI certification for the AI management systems standard.”
With ISO 42001 certification, CM.com reinforces its leading position in Europe in the field of responsible AI. While many US platforms continue to struggle with governance and transparency, CM.com demonstrates that European technology is setting the standard for reliability, privacy, and ethical AI use. For customers in regulated sectors such as government, insurance, and financial services, this means demonstrably lower risk and greater confidence when deploying AI.
